The 2002 musical is based on the 1985 non-musical play and novel by Mark Harelik. Harelik’s other plays include “The Legacy” and (written with Randal Myler) “Hank Williams: Lost Highway.”
“The Immigrant” is directed by the West Coast Jewish Theatre’s Artistic Director, Howard Teichman. Born in Toronto, he moved to Chicago, where he became a member of the famed Second City troupe, for which he wrote an original play, “Commedia.” He received an MFA in Theatre from UCLA. His previous directing credits include “Last of the Red Hot Lovers,” “Sarah Sarah,” “The Value of Names,” “From Door to Door,” “Lost in Yonkers,” “Modern Orthodox” (L.A. Weekly Award nomination for comedy direction) and much more.

Van Wyck, Managing Director. “The Immigrant” was produced in 2002 and the play upon which it is based was commissioned and produced in 1985 by The Denver Center for the Performing Arts, Donovan Marley, Artistic Director. The original Off-Broadway production of “The Immigrant” (2002) was produced by Hello Enteratinment.
